10 best places to visit in Italy: ranking update

Best places in Italy
Three months after the last ranking posted, an update is necessary to the list of the 10  best travel destinations in Italy. Many more travelers joined Gadders and shared their experiences, giving their votes and adding their travel tips to the places they visited lately in Italy.
The parameters on which the chart is based? The beauty of the places first of all, but also the fun activities you can do and its nightlife, how much safe is staying in each place and how cheap is to travel there, and last but not least, talking about Italy it's impossible not to take in consideration the quality of food!

Where are the best beaches in Italy Vol. II

Italy beaches: Eolie
Not long time ago we said in this post that there's a rule to find the best beaches in Italy. Do you remember? It's quite easy:

The best beach is the hardest to reach

And which one is it then? Our answer was the tiny islands that surround the Italian coast, from Tuscany to the south of Italy, to the Adriatic side. Maybe not as many and renowned as those of the Greek sea, but this is why Italian islands are more attractive than Greek ones: there are no airports and even few ferries to reach them.

Where to go in Sicily: Art & Culture versus Mafia

Palermo, Sicily
In the last post we were talking about Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, second biggest island in the Mediterranean sea. Today, our travel all along Italy will take you to another capital, bigger in dimensions, maybe richer of history and belonging to the biggest island of the Mediterranean, mainly renowned for its bad qualities (Mafia). You know what we are talking about, but we want to make you discover some good reasons to visit it.
Palermo, capital of Sicily, is a meltin’ pot of cultures, a destination off the beaten path, that should actually be a must see of Italy for its artistic and historical offer. And also for its gorgeous surrounding beaches and small ancient villages, like Monreale.

A journey to the extreme southern piece of Italy…

Noto, Sicily
Few foreign tourists have been seen walking through these lands, but those who went have been overwhelmed by a torrent of sensations… A travel in the south-eastern side of Sicily is a travel into italian folklore, into ancient civilizations, into unexplored natural reserves. In our gadders blog’s travel we stop in two different destinations, Noto, a thousands years old town, and Vendicari, an uninhabitated island.

Noto

Included in the UNESCO list of late Baroque cities of Val di Noto, Noto is one of the loveliest towns in the eastside coast of Sicily, a town completely destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1693 and rebuilt ten kilometers further downstream, with the contribution of some of the most important engineers and architects of that time.
